The city of Petra, cut into the living earth by the arab kingdom of the Nabataens around the time of Christ. This image shows two of the numerous tombs one passes as the Siq opens out into the main site of Petra. The stepped motif is typical Nabataen while the column and doorway on the right reflect Helenistic influence.
